Subject: Report status of European Championships in Russia

Discussion: I was given the opportunity and privilege to attended, review, and participate, in the recent European Championships under the direction of Yuri Ustinov, the WPC Russian President and Konstantin Rogohnikov, meet director.

NOTES:
1. Travel under the current security crisis was challenging, yet with proper planning on my part there wouldn’t have been a problem.
2. Airfare reasonable and there wasn’t any problem getting a visa.
3. Hotel very good and well with in distance to venue.
4. Meet and lifter information always current and posted.
5. Weight-ins went smooth and lifters given information and gift packet. There was a count of almost 500 lifter pre-registered.
6. Venue area very good for both lifter and spectators. Food and equipments vendors on hand.
7. Two doctors on hand.
8. Judging and spotters very good.
9. Warm up area had plenty of space and equipment.
10. Media coverage of radio, TV, newspapers, and billboards very good.
11. Great meet shirts and posters.
12. Lifters handled very well.
13. No miss load and injuries.
14. Excellent awards and lifter recognition.
15. Excellent use of computers to relay information.
16. Platform area very attractive and good use of sponsors posters and banners.
17. Great pre-meet access to any type of information and concerns by lifters.
18. Music kept at proper level.
19. Many WPC-Russia officials on hand to answer question and help at any level. All dressed properly.
20. Customs no problem.
21. Lifters ability of those attended, all world class.
Summary: This organization has the ability and passion to engineer a championship at any level, including a world class meet! They also have the financial backing of sponsors and media backing of the country.
